Late and cancelled trains

Running late now, or due to be running now and cancelled
Checking every train under way…

How this list is made

Every train National Rail's Darwin feed has under way right now is checked. A train's delay is its latest actual time against the timetable or, before it has reported anywhere, its first forecast. "No report yet" counts trains that are running but have no time against them. Those are not known to be on time, so they are kept out of both figures. How a delay is measured.

A cancelled train is listed while it was booked to be running. A part cancellation names the stretch it is not running, which is often given no reason at all. See how a cancellation is recorded.

Reading a row

Each train is shown by its booked departure time, origin and destination, followed by its headcode (the four-character signalling reference) and the company operating it. Below that is the last station where an actual time was recorded and the next stop it is due at, with the expected time whenever the forecast differs from the timetable. Junctions and other passing points are left out, because a passenger cannot board there. The reason line is the explanation published to station screens, such as a signalling fault, a shortage of crew or an earlier failed train.

Every row links to the full calling pattern, the train's position on the map, and the live boards at both ends. Once a delay reaches fifteen minutes, or the service is cancelled, a compensation link appears too: straight to that company's Delay Repay form where we hold a checked address, otherwise to National Rail's refunds page, which lists them all. Whether you can claim depends on your ticket and on how late you actually arrived, not on this figure.

The list refreshes every minute while the tab is open. Filter by operator, raise the threshold to fifteen or thirty minutes, hide cancellations, or include empty stock and other non-passenger movements alongside passenger services.

For the incidents behind the delays see disruptions. For the day's totals see live punctuality, and for earlier days the daily archive. TransitRadar is independent and not an official source. Station screens and operators are the source of record. Methodology.
